The newsletter
If you subscribe, I keep your first name (if you give it) and email address so I can email you about new posts. The list is kept on this website’s server and may be moved to an email service such as Mailchimp to send the emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask me to remove you.
Messages
When you use the contact form, your name, email address, topic and message are emailed to me so I can reply. They aren’t stored on the website or used for anything else.
Cookies and tracking
This site doesn’t use tracking cookies or advertising, which is why there’s no cookie banner. Fonts and the site’s own scripts are served from this site, not from Google.
To see which posts people read, the site uses Rybbit, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, loaded from analytics.d3s.io. It records the pages you visit, the site that linked you here, your browser and device type, and your approximate location (estimated from your IP address). To tell a new visit from a returning one it keeps a random ID in your browser’s local storage (not a cookie). It isn’t linked to your name or email, and it isn’t used for advertising or sold.
One more small thing is stored in your own browser: if you pause the home page video, your browser remembers that choice. It never leaves your device.
Server logs
Like nearly every website, the web server keeps standard logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type, time) for security and troubleshooting. They’re kept for a limited time and not used to identify visitors.
Sharing
I don’t sell, rent or trade your information. It’s only shared with the services that make the site work (web hosting, visitor analytics) or when the law requires it.
Other sites
Links to hotels, airlines, booking sites and Instagram take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe at any time, and you can ask me what information I have about you, to correct it, or to delete it by writing to contact@trailbha.com.
Children
This site is meant for adults planning travel and isn’t directed to children under 13. I don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top will show it.
